R & Y Augousti Style Eggshell Lacquer Tall Sculptural Spindle Vase

$945.00

Holding it together, beautifully

Look at this statement in texture and silhouette,. This sculptural vase by R & Y Augousti exemplifies the appeal of late twentieth-century decorative arts.

Its elongated hourglass form has an intricate eggshell lacquer finish that creates a mesmerizing interplay of geometry and organic pattern. From a distance, the surface reads as architectural; up close, it’s reminiscent of ancient ceramics and parched earth landscapes.

The piece draws on the traditions of French lacquer work and the Art Deco revival, but it does not feel trapped in either period. It’s pretty much the opposite. It has the confidence to sit among Mid-Century Modern pieces, contemporary furniture, or a collection accumulated over years by someone who has never been particularly interested in matching things.

Condition: Excellent

Key Features & Benefits

Era / Movement: Mid-20th-century decorative arts, drawing from Art Deco lacquer traditions and later organic modern forms
Material / Construction: Composite structure finished in eggshell lacquer (coquille d’oeuf), layered and polished to a smooth, high-gloss surface
Maker / Provenance: Attributed to R & Y Augousti, known for material-driven decorative objects with global craft influence
Design Notes: Asymmetrical spindle form with canted rim;
Care & Use: Best kept as a sculptural object or with minimal arrangement; wipe gently with a soft cloth to maintain finish
Dimensions: 23.5" H × 3" W × 3.5" D

Desert Rose Crystal on Chrome Stand | 1970s

$325.00

When nature keeps its composure.…

In the 70s natural specimens were increasingly treated as sculptural objects rather than scientific artifacts. The contrast of the texture and polished metal is deliberate.

The Desert Rose specimen is a softly colored mineral, but the closer you get, the more you notice how cool and complex it actually is. It’s made of thin, crystal plates that radiate out into a natural rosette.

Condition: Excellent

Key Features & Benefits

Era / Movement: 1970s modernist display sensibility with naturalist roots.
Material / Construction: Naturally occurring gypsum or barite crystal on a polished chrome stand..
Style / Design Notes: Minmal metal stand allowing the mineral to remain dominant.
Care & Maintenance Tip: Dust gently with a soft brush; avoid moisture on the crystal.
Dimensions: 4.5ʺW × 2.5ʺD × 8ʺH

Per Lütken for Holmegaard Smoke Vase | Danish Modern Art Glass 1960's

$595.00

Smoke show, Scandinavian edition…

This Holmegaard Smoke vase is a masterclass in geometry and gravity. A wide, open mouth tapers down to a heavy base, punctuated by that signature internal bubble catching the light just right. It’s understated, but only in that distinctively confident Danish way.

Per Lütken’s designs for Holmegaard are some of the most essential pieces of 20th-century Scandinavian Modern glass, and this Smoke conical vase stands out as a highlight of his legacy. The Smoke colorway added an atmospheric depth to Holmegaard’s line. A gray-green translucency that sharpens the lines of Lütken’s forms while softening their overall visual impact.
