Three calipers, once practical measuring instruments for engineers and metalworkers, have been arranged vertically on a simple dark base, and suddenly all that mechanical precision becomes composition. The pivoting arms create an hourglass-like rhythm, while the subtle differences in scale draw the eye up.
Nothing has been prettied up. The objects retain the evidence of their former lives, which makes the arrangement considerably more interesting than anything manufactured specifically to look “industrial.”
