Sky Blue Empoli Cased Glass Vase, Mid-Century Italy

Sky Blue Empoli Cased Glass Vase, Mid-Century Italy

$265.00

Empoli: where shape meets shade

Empoli, the other great glassmaking region of Italy, was the playground for bold silhouettes and saturated hues in the 1960s and 1970s. This hand-blown cased glass vase carries that same sense of modern daring: an hourglass-inspired form that swells and cinches like sculpture in motion.

The cased glass technique gives the sky blue color its depth—denser and opaque at the base, softening into a luminous translucence toward the neck. Its biomorphic shape feels both organic and futuristic, recalling the mid-century Italian love of clean curves and pure color.

Unlike Murano’s jewel-like intricacy, Empoli glass leaned into bold, modern forms with everyday accessibility—and that’s exactly what makes this piece so appealing. A vessel, yes, but also a piece of design history that bridges utility and artistry.

Black & Gold Condition Guide

✨ We believe every piece tells a story — here’s how we describe the chapters they’ve lived so far:

  • Mint / Like New Practically time-traveled. Looks as though it’s never been used. Crisp, clean, and flawless.

  • Excellent Well-preserved with only the most minor signs of age (think a faint scratch or two, visible only if you squint). Structurally sound and show-stopping.

  • Very Good Loved and cared for. Some small signs of wear — maybe light surface marks, gentle fading, or a touch of patina — but nothing that distracts from its beauty or function.

  • Good Has earned its character. Noticeable wear such as scratches, discoloration, or finish loss, all consistent with age and use. Still fully functional and fabulous.

  • Well-Loved / As-Is This one has stories to tell. Expect visible flaws or wear (chips, cracks, missing parts), but still worthy for display, repurposing, or as a collector’s gem.
