This hand-blown cased glass vase embodies the best of Empoli, Italy’s lesser-known glassmaking region in the 1960s and '70s. It’s The sky blue an hourglass form gets depth from the cased glass. This biomorphic shape feels incredibly current, capturing the mid-century Italian love affair with clean curves and pure color.
Unlike most of the designs of Murano, Empoli leaned into big, accessible statements. It’s exactly that daring simplicity that makes this piece so magnetic, a vessel, yes, but mostly just a stunning piece of design history.
